Baby Shower Beginnings
Creating a theme for a baby shower can be made easier by deciding which direction you want to work from. If you want to start with your invitations and set the theme, it makes it simple to select the decorations, as you will already have things started. If you opt to go the other route it can be a little more challenging. Sticking to basics can help you pull everything together seamlessly, so looking at a few simple things on the front end can make a big difference.
No matter which direction you want to work from, starting with a color palette can be helpful. Browse our invitation templates and get a feel for what we have to offer in the way of hues and tones. Do a little window shopping for decorations and see what stores have available. If you have the time, you may even want to consider doing your own decorations from scratch to match the invitations. Think about the color scheme carefully, as it will influence everything else that you do.
Next, decide if you want to go with a gender-specific shower. If you know the sex of the baby, you may want to do a theme that corresponds. You can go with a floral look or a princess theme for a girl and do something like a ship, teddy bear or a car theme for a boy. There are many different directions you can go with this idea if you choose; traditional or otherwise.
If you don’t know what the sex of the baby is, or you prefer to do something gender-neutral, you may want to opt for a cute animal-theme. Baby giraffes, elephants or teddy bears are all darling ideas, but just about any animal has the potential to work well. Another option is to stick to a simple “baby” theme, using items such as pacifiers, building blocks and diaper pins as ideas for decorating and doing your invitations. You can even ask friends and family for ideas and then decide what you like.
If you want a very upscale look, consider going a more modern route for the shower. This means using trendy colors, unusual invitations and classy decorations. Again, you can use the invitations to help set the tone and direction, or work in reverse. It can be helpful to flip through a few magazines or browse our Website to get an idea of what is “hot” right now if you want to be up-to-the-minute on design.
