Avoiding Personal Pics

One of the best tips we can give to the business world is to avoid putting personal pictures on your business cards. It doesn’t matter if the business cards are for your own business, for the business you work for, or for your own personal gain; never print your personal picture on a business card. As much as this might sound like a good idea, it really isn’t. Why? The answer is quite simple; no one wants to see what you look like. They want to know the information for your business or how to contact you personally and that’s it.

Other personal pictures to avoid printing on your business cards are pictures of your pet, pictures of your home, pictures of your car and any other picture that shows personal property. The only things that should be printed on business cards are contact information, a business address, an email address, a phone number and some brief information about the business itself.

Is the business card for yourself? By this we mean, will the business card be used to help you obtain a job since you are currently unemployed? If so, still avoid printing your personal picture on the business card. Instead of printing your personal picture you could print some information about yourself on the back of the card. That information could include where you earned your collegiate degree, what schools you attended, your previous work experience and maybe even a reference or two.

Just please, please, don’t print a personal picture on the business card. It will look more like a mug shot than a business picture.
