Baby Store Business Cards: Think Focus Think Fun
Baby stores come in many shapes and sizes from online retailers and exchange stores all the way up to mall locations and stand alone mega marts. Regardless of the size and scope of the setup, every baby store owner needs a business card designed to showcase their wares and set the tone for their business.
Focus the background design for the particular branch of the infant retail business you participate in. If you only sell clothes, the background or clip art should feature only baby clothes. If toys are your focus, don’t include clothes or cribs in your design. Mothers are looking for the right retailer for their specific need and will move onto the next very quickly. The less confusion and mixed messages, the more repeat business.
Fonts and typestyles should be relaxed but professional. An overly formal typeset can be off putting for parental consumers. They need to know that kids and not business are your focus. Of course, in the back of their minds they know it is business and making a buck but when the child and fun and relaxation are emphasized, the parent is more apt to shop.
Utilize a tag line well. ‘For all your baby needs” is neither informational nor attention grabbing. Take time to formulate your tag using specific examples from your range or business practices. “Gently used clothes, toys and gear” or “designer clothes for your little one” tell much more about content and price point.
Colors should be light hearted and bright but not break the three color rule. Use primary colors for toy focused stores and pastels for clothes and bedding focused retailers. If yours is a community based main street store, reflecting the colors of your awning or sign provides great visual reinforcement for the consumer.
Shy away from photographs of store owners and employees but consider photographs of the store if you live in an area with many infant focused shops. This goes back to focusing on the child rather than the business end of things.
Finishing and accents are great on baby store cards and provide that extra level of attention to detail. Consider two sided cards to provide information on street directions, store hours or to list the items accepted in an exchange program.
The baby business is big business and one not affected much by market changes. Take the time to spruce up your business card or consider a new line of cards. The holidays are coming and lots more shoppers are looking for that perfect gift for baby. Be the one to provide it.
