Business Card Considerations for Teachers

Teachers are in the education business.  And like everyone in the business industry they need business cards. A teacher has a number of considerations when designing their business cards. The focus should be on effective communication in an age and parent appropriate manner.

Any teacher card should contain certain vital information. Every teacher business card must include the teacher’s full name, school mailing address, teacher’s home room phone number and classroom number and building location.  The teacher card should be tailored to the parents of her students as her co-workers already know her vital contact information.

Additional information could include details on grade or subjects taught, basic schedule if there are a number of room schedules and office or consultation hours. A two sided or fold over card make work well to ensure additional information does not crowd basic information. Teachers must be careful when determining what additional information to include as some items may change semester to semester. Ordering a suitable amount of business cards is key.

Background design can very much depend on the grade a teacher teaches and any subject specialization she may have. The kindergarten teacher could have basic numbers or letters as a background design or children playing. The high school geography teacher could have a globe, the art teacher a paint palette, the gym teacher a pair of gym shoes etc.  There are so many possible designs online, there is sure to be something for every type of teacher.

Color should reflect both the teacher and the school or school district. The school colors may be prominent or blended with a teacher focused palette. The school logo could be uploaded to any custom business card application.

Teachers are one of the most vital components of our society. Their business cards should reflect accessibility, determination and creativity.
