How to Design a Business Card
We have been asked the question of how to design a business card quite often so it is time to address the matter. There are plenty of different ways to design business cards but there are a couple of major do’s and don’t’s that should be followed when determining what information to print on the card, what types of colors to use, and how to arrange the information on the card itself.
Let’s start with the arrangement of information on the business card. You have one of two options and they are to either center the information in the middle of the card or place it to the extreme left of the card as if you were writing in a Microsoft Word document. We rarely see business cards with information pushed all the way to the right of the card. It would just look weird.
When printing a business card make sure that the fonts are easy to read when they are printed on top of a background color. If they aren’t easy to read then no one will hold onto your card. Also, colors used on a business card should be low key and not too out of control unless you are trying to get a point across. If you are carrying cards around looking for a job they shouldn’t be too crazy color-wise.
The final tip of the day deals with what type of information to print on the card. You should print your name, email, phone and location of your business. Do not print the address of your home or your home phone unless those two items are your business contact information.
