Mommy Needs a Business Card Too

People tend to forget that being a mom is full time job and it may be the hardest job in the world. So above all other occupations, doesn’t motherhood deserve its own type of business card?  Modern mothering magazines refer to them as “mommy cards” and it’s the latest must have for the new mom.

Being a mom involves a lot of scheduled activities and excursions with other parents they may not know well or at all. Mommy business cards are a great ice breaker and can save carrying around a notepad trying to remember all the new people.  They are perfect for setting up play dates and getting information for emergency contact or sign up lists.

The mommy card offers a number of design opportunities: focus on the child or focus on the mom.  Childish clip art is a favorite as is a reference to Mom’s hobby or paid occupation. Color schemes are really a matter of personal taste and can be a favorite color or simply whatever works with the visual images and chosen fonts.

Mommy business cards are great when they include a photograph as it can be hard to remember all those new names and faces at story time or on the playground. Some people prefer to put a picture of their kids on their card, others a picture of themselves. There’s nothing wrong with a small visual reference of the whole family.

The mommy card can include basic contact information as well as cute lines such as “Mother of Joey and Ann” or “Available for play dates.” Mommy cards can be handed out to teachers, coaches and pediatricians. They make life a little easier and make you look like a sophisticated modern mom who has it together. Of course the reality may be different but the cards are too cute to go without.
