Professor Business Cards
Professors can work either as adjuncts or full-time, tenured professors with the college or university where they teach. An adjunct professor is one who teaches maybe one or two classes during the semester, does not have an office on campus, and has a full-time job away from the academic institution. A full-time professor has an office, teaches five or six classes per semester, has tenure and does not have a full-time job outside of the academic institution because he or she works close to 40 hours per week at the school.
Professors, whether adjunct or full-time, need business cards like all other business professionals, especially adjunct professors. Professors need to have something to hand to their students other than the course syllabus that has their contact information on it. Students, a good majority of them, will lose the syllabus at some point during the semester but might be more inclined to hang onto a business card because it does not have anything to do with the class itself. The business card should have the professor’s name on it, their department, the name of the school, their email address, office phone number, cell number, and website address.
Professors should bring enough business cards on the first day of class to hand out one to each student in each class they have on opening day. Professors should also carry around extras throughout the semester in case a student asks for a card, in case a co-worker asks for a card, or in case the professor meets someone new.
