Selling Culture and Community: Tourism Board Business Card
Tourism is big business. As more and ore people downsize their budget, local, regional and state to state tourism increases. The more people that don’t go abroad for their vacation are looking for something or somewhere closer to home to visit. The Tourism board business card must promote the community, its activities and its people in a professional and businesslike manner.
Every tourism board business card should include the location of the local tourist information office. The website of both the office and the community or town council and the most available contact phone numbers and e-mails are essential. Often a tourist board will issue a single community business card and the information should be up to date and legible.
Use a local landmark or scenic view for your tourism board business card. Avoid using online clipart or generic images on your business card. The idea is to promote the local area and make your community seem like an attractive and interesting place to visit. Take a few photos from around your town and experiment to find just the right look.
Consider using the colors of the town crest or mascot on your tourist board business card. Avoid too much background pattern or design so as not to crowd out or shout down vital information. Stick to three color rule and keep backgrounds pleasant but simple.
Print area attractions on the back of the tourism board business card. Be sure to use a bullet format to evenly space interesting items and key community features. Alternately, use the back of the card to print coupons or discounts for area businesses or attractions.
Distribute tourist board business cards at local points of interest, park offices, museums and community centers. Consider dropping a pile of cards off at neighboring community town halls and museums to increase visitors.
