What Not to Print on a Business Card

Business cards have become a staple of the business world these days with millions of them circulating through office buildings, academic buildings, and coffee shops each day. Not every business card is held onto by its recipient for one reason or another. The most successful business cards, the ones that grab everyone’s attention, are the ones that have the perfect amount of information printed on them. The ones that aren’t so successful are the ones that have immature or inappropriate information printed on them.

What shouldn’t be printed on a business card? For starters, no business card should contain your home address unless that is where your office is located. So, if you work for Verizon, you can put your office’s address on the card but never have your home address printed on the card. It just doesn’t make sense and your home address has no business being printed on the card.

Something else that shouldn’t be printed on your business cards is anything inappropriate. Even if you own or work for a business that sells inappropriate products, products that cannot be discussed on this blog, you still shouldn’t print anything about those products on the cards. Also, make sure to avoid the printing of any inappropriate pictures for the background of your business cards. Even though you might be trying to appeal to your clientele, if the business cards get into the wrong hands you could really offend someone.

Use discretion and common sense when having business cards printed. If you think for just a second that someone will be offended if they see your business card or if you are providing information that no one should know then don’t print that on the card.
